Ho Bao is a Hong Kong based artist who illustrates delicious wall-murals. She started working as a full-time artist just one year ago in 2015, after 2 years of travelling through Australia, Taiwan and Europe. Her elegant, patterned style has become very iconic on both the street art and fashion scene in Hong Kong of late.
She uses a variety of techniques including paint and brush, ball pen and markers. She describes her method as ‘freestyle – letting the pen flow’ and often starts a piece without a detailed plan. She does not set out to capture one singular story though her murals either, preferring - quite humbly, to let the viewer use their imagination to make it their own though the characters and elements she creates. Bao believes that deep down, we were made to draw, dance and be creative, but when we become adults we seem to forget about these things, she paints, because it makes her happy.
Her flair for styling has attracted a nice collection of brand partnerships too, including Vans, Swatch, HKwalls, Lululemon and the Pearl Lam Gallery. She’s even decorated the steps of PMQ - making that walk-up in the humidity a little bit more enjoyable for visitors seeking the surprise ‘N’ delight factor.
