Leonie Bos is a Dutch artist who grew up in a home of her father’s design, so she naturally became hyper-aware and passionate about architecture from an early age. She went on to study at the Academy of Arts before returning to Amsterdam where she pursued a career in painting.
Space and design influence her illustration style, which blends traditional printmaking techniques to create architectural images through a careful layering of texture, tone and colour. She has a keen interest in materiality and incorporates the grain and colour of the paper on which she prints into her pieces.
What makes Leonie’s style so special, is the way that she is equally adept at conjuring up a modernist American motel as she is, a mundane interior. This unique design approach and style to capturing space-on-a-page or architecture-in-a-print offers a humble and personable authenticity to the final compositions.
