Nancy O' Connor is a fine artist and Ravensbourne fashion graduate. She uses delicate and traditional watercolours in her work. Her graceful portraits grabbed my attention and I thought I would ask this whimsical mind a few more questions and get to know her a little better…
What did you want to be when you were 10 years old? I wanted to be a fashion designer and was determined to accomplish my dream from a young age.
What’s the proudest moment of your career to date? My career is just starting really but the shiniest moment that stands out was when the illuminating Swarovski Elements sponsored my graduate collection.
Which tools do you use to create paintings? I started using traditional watercolour in Spain and now I'm quite addicted! Daniel Smith watercolours are my favourite with so much pigment in each tube to play with.
Where do you find inspiration for your elegant compositions? I do a lot of life drawings and painting too. I like to consider compositions in great detail. Stong, feminine characters inspire my work.
What’s your favourite music to work to? I've been listening to Rudimental this week... And Beyonce.
Which blog do you read religiously? I love Susie Bubble's blog… Her dress sense and style had a huge influence of some of my latest paintings.
What are you working on at the moment? A vast array of projects… Drawings and paintings of distorted garments, which have more abstract results and I am starting to experiment more with oil over the next few months so watch this space!
